Boxing promoter Frank Maloney has dismissed David Haye and Dereck Chisora as "thugs" and believes both fighters should receive life bans from boxing.
Haye and Chisora squared up and fought at the post-fight press conference of Chisora's unanimous decision defeat to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and Maloney, who once promoted Haye, has blasted the duo for the example they've set.
"It was like two thugs fighting in the street," Maloney said. "It's a pity they didn't put such effort in in the ring when they were fighting the Klitschko brothers; they both might be world champions today.
"They should be punished for bringing the sport into disrepute – [they should be] banned for life.
"They show what sort of people they are; they're bad role models for young people – they shouldn't be allowed to take part in sport."
Maloney also stated his belief that, should the controversial brawl provoke Haye to consider a fight with Chisora – something Chisora and his promoter Frank Warren had touted – the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) should prevent any such match-up, also suggesting it wouldn't be as entertaining as some believe.
"I don't think the British Boxing Board of Control should allow that fight," he added. "It would only turn into an ugly brawl; it would be no good for the sport."
Though Chisora would be attracted to the prospect of earning big money against Haye, the former WBA champion has repeatedly stated he will only return from retirement to challenge one of the Klitschko brothers and could potentially be Vitali's next opponent.
