Operation 'Portugal warm up' can be regarded as a success.
Next Wednesday I will be accompanying Frank Maloney and the second most important person in his life on a drive to Portugal.
Me, Frank and Louis will have an 18 hour ferry trip and a 12 hour journey to take us from Portsmouth to Faro in just under 2 days.
Today we did a test run to Sunderland with the dog to see if he could handle the back seat of the Nissan and he did pretty well. What people need to understand is that the dog is no ordinary animal, he is more of a person in the way he behaves.
He had a sulk after a few hours so Frank had to buy him an ice cream to cheer him up and about 6pm he had a pack of hula hoops. As I write this he is on the edge of the fairway, on the 18th hole at the Ramside Hotel where we are staying. He has a double bed and everything, I think Frank is treating him better than the staff!
I've just had a catch up with the news and seen Danny Green defended his cruiserweight title in just 29 seconds against Paul Briggs...I spent longer than that writing the weigh in story yesterday. What a pathetic excuse for a 'world title' fight. No wonder the fans threw beer over him as he left the arena...who could blame them.
